Battlegrounds Mobile India, or BGMI is now set to release new update 4.4 with major gameplay changes that will be available to all players in a few days. We already have multiple leaks of the game, revealing new combat zones, high-reward drop zones and gun changes. Krafton is now bringing the highly anticipated Hero’s crown theme mode along with a big collaboration with Harley-Davidson’s Crate. The BGMI 4.4 update is set to be released on 20th May 2026. The name of the upcoming new event is “Hero’s Crown” although Krafton India has not made any official announcement yet. But following the regular pattern of the company, the game gets updated with a new theme mode after every 2 months.

Based on past updates, Android users will first get this update on Google Play Store at approximately 6:30 AM IST (India Standard Time). iOS users can expect the 4.4 update to start rolling out from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM on the Apple App Store. BGMI 4.4 update will be available for the entire gaming community by 12:30 PM on all digital stores and players will also be able to download the APK files directly from the official website of BGMI.

Pro Tip for Android Users – If you don’t see the update on Google Play Store at 8:00 AM, then go to phone settings and clear the cache of Play Store.

Key Features of BGMI 4.4 Update

The BGMI 4.4 update is bringing an ancient Greek and Roman aesthetic to the Erangel, Livik and Rondo maps. This isn’t just a visual change, areas like the Ruins and Ferry Pier in Erangel have been completely renovated. Also, for the first time, a new version of LIVIK Map is going to appear.

There will be significant changes in the new update of the game to fix lag issues and improve the frame rates so that the game will work smoothly even for players on low-end devices.

New Themed Mode: Heroes Crown

The Erangel map will receive a complete rework, implementing the “Hero’s Crown” theme mode and introducing new gameplay elements. Hot-drops such as Yasnaya, Mylta, Ruins and Ferry Pier will become open battle spaces where players can land as main combat zones. Slight changes can be seen in the combat structure which will provide more opportunities for mid-range battles in event area.

The Floating Island: Crown’s Abode

A new high-stakes hot drop (main event) has arrived. Landing here will allow you to collect Origin Embers, if your squad collects enough embers, then you can summon Sun Chariot to challenge the powerful Centaur Boss, defeating which will give you heavy loot materials such as level 3 gears and airdrop weapons.

The Floating Island & The Sun Chariot

A large floating island will appear once the match starts, which will serve as a high-stakes combat zone (main event) for early dominance where you get extra lives, after dying in the event you will be able to land on hot-drops in the Erangel map.

• Collect Origin Ambers: During the landing, you have to battle with rival teams and secure the Origin Ambers that are scattered throughout the island.
• Ride the Sun Chariot: After collecting enough Ambers, you will get the ability to board the Sun Chariot.
• The Centaur Boss: Use the Chariot to travel deeper into the island and challenge the Centaur Boss for ultimate rewards.

Weapons and Gameplay Changes

The Panzerfaust is coming back as ground loot, a heavy-vehicle for rotation in late circles. The JS9 SMG will become the most powerful weapon in close-range combats. Teams can use Spartan flags and other tactical items to hold and move their positions in the last zone.

• JS9 & Panzerfaust: Players will now get this as common ground loot in all classic maps.
• The Spartan Flag: This tactical item creates a “buff zone”, within which, your squad gets enhanced attacks and the unyielding state that causes slow knockdowns.
• Heart of Fury: A movement item that grants you two high-speed dashes, great for aggressive close combat.

In the 4.4 meta, Sniper Rifles no longer have damage drop-off. If you are an expert in long-range combat, then this is the season for you to shine. On the other hand, the damage drop-off on Assault Rifles (AR Weapons) has increased slightly, which will make mid-range sprays a lil more difficult.

Pro Tip – Your current sensitivity settings may become weaker as of the 4.4 update. When you update the game with a new version, be sure to check your long and mid-range sprays in the training ground and adjust the sensitivity as per your requirement. New Vehicle The Roadster

A premium two-seater car with automatic turbocharger. You can use this vehicle to escape, and to quickly rotate through the zone. The turbo in the Roadster kicks on its own and pushes the speed to high-RMPs. Unfortunately, we can’t control the turbo boost as this is an automatic turbocharger.

BGMI x Dinoground: The Second Event?

According to an official statement, the Dinoground mode is returning to BGMI as a second event in Erangel in June 2026. In the last 2 seasons we got a chance to play The Aladdin Update (part of the 4.2 update) and The Pharaoh Ancient Secret mode (part of the 4.3 update). This time we can get Dinosaur update with 4.4 update in early-June.

The Dinoground mode in BGMI brings dinosaurs to the gameplay, which allows players to find and ride on velociraptors. This event features T-Rex, with whom you can team up to attack enemy squads.
