BGMI promotion Match Rules and Tips: You have to finish 3-4 consecutive matches to reach the highest tier - Ace, Ace Master and Dominator.

So I was climbing the ranking system in Crown I, and the next screen that popped up in front of me was “Participate in a Promotion Match”. Krafton introduced the promotional match system to BGMI and PUBG Mobile to make it more challenging for players to reach the highest tier. It’s fun and simultaneously frustrating; how will I describe my pain now that I lost all the right ticks in my last match? Here’s everything you need to know about BGMI Promotion Match Rules and Tips to climb the ranking ladder.

BGMI Promotion Match Rules

To successfully promote yourself to the next tier, there are some rules you must follow. Because it depends on your position, you can’t die early. The rules are:

TierRequired Challenge MatchesPlacement / Position Goals
AceComplete 3 promotional matches in a row Erangel: Top 15 Position
Livik: Top 8 Position
Ace MasterComplete 3 promotional matches in a row Erangel: Top 12 Position
Livik: Top 6 Position
Ace DominatorComplete 4 promotional matches in a row Erangel: Top 10 Position
Livik: Top 5 Position

As I said earlier, your placement for the next 3-4 matches is everything here. You can’t rush all the time; you have to get into the top 15 position to reach Ace, top 12 for Ace Master, and top 10 to reach Dominator.

Requirements & Progress

When you hit the maximum ranking points in Crown I (4199), you unlock the promotion match. You can play the promotion match only on the Erangel or Livik maps, in TPP mode.

It doesn’t matter what your squad’s placement or ranking position is. If your squad gets eliminated in the #3 or #2 position, and you died in the #16-17 position, your promotion progress will get reset. It means you have to do it again from the start. Your solo contribution matters; no matter if your team is dead or alive, you have to survive until you reach the goal of the top 15 or top 10.

Furthermore, you can’t start a promotion match if your teammate’s tier is low. Yeah, there’s another requirement of having your teammates in the same tier or at least Crown if you are attempting for Ace or Ace Master.

Progress Protection

Finally, thanks to Krafton – they really do care about our mental health, lol. We have a one-time-use progression protection. The rule is we have to complete 3 matches in a row under the top 15, but if we die too early, your progress or streak will get saved because of this protection. Remember, it’s just a one-time savior; if you fail a second time, your progression will get reset. And you have to do it again from 0 whether you are doing it for Dominator, Master, or Ace.

Tips to Complete BGMI Promotion Match

Before you start your promotion match, first check your graphics settings, sensitivity settings, and whether you checked the box for the promotional match or not (it’s located in the bottom-left corner with the map).

Avoid Hot-Drop Zones

You can land on the event area, pick up the loot, and take fights with whoever you want. In this update, we have an extra life when we land on the Hero’s Crown themed mode area. Even then, we will get the same auto-recall life in the next Naruto Theme Event part of the BGMI 4.5 update.

But when we die there, and our event life gets used, you have to land somewhere safe, I’d prefer the edge of the map. Take minimal loot, and try to camp there. Avoid fights; all you have to do is hide yourself in compounds until you hit your placement in the top 10.

Play Promotion Matches in Livik

Livik is literally one of the best maps in BGMI, and many Erangel players underestimate it. However, there are only 52 players in each match. Livik map is approx. 2×2 kilometers, which means wherever you go, you’ll get yourself into a combat zone.

That’s why it’s the best. You can play safe, land on the edge of the map like the Rose Farm area, Holdus, Shipyard, or East Port. It’ll take 15 minutes to finish a match on the Livik map; players die much faster than in Erangel. I will highly recommend you to play Livik if you are attempting for the highest tiers such as Master or Dominator. Plus, the lag issues are less in Livik, as it’s not a heavy map if you have a budget phone.

Play with Your Squad

It’s gonna be a little difficult if you are trying to finish the promotion match with random teammates. See, in any case you die, I don’t think they will go to the recall center to bring you back into the game. Unless you are a girl – if randoms find out you are a girl, you’re gonna get the princess treatment from them, lmao.

All I’m saying is it’s really hard with random teammates. If you don’t have a squad, and if you prefer to play solo, I know you are good enough, but in promotion matches, even you will need a backup. Just for the promotional matches, you can join a good team from the recruitment section.

What is BGMI Promotion Match?

BGMI Ace Dominator Promotion

Promotion matches in Battlegrounds Mobile India are challenge tests that you have to complete first to reach the highest tier. Players must complete 3 to 4 consecutive promotion matches to get promoted to Ace or other elite tiers. In simple words, if you are on the Crown tier right now, you have to play 3 promotion matches to reach the Ace tier. After Ace at 4699 points, you must complete 4 promotion matches to get promoted to Ace Master. Same goes with the Ace Dominator tier.

Once you reach the required points, you unlock these ch allenge matches. You can’t skip the promotional matches if you are pushing your rank to the highest BGMI tier.

Promotion Match Rules FAQs

How many matches do I have to play to promote to Ace?

You have to play 3 consecutive matches to get promoted to the Ace tier. In simple words, just finish 3 matches in a row in the top 15 on Erangel and the top 8 on the Livik map. Don’t forget you have one protection too, so if one match gets ruined, it’s okay, just don’t fail a second time.

What is the difficulty level of BGMI Promotion Match?

Well, I’m already at Ace Dominator. If you want to know my experience, the difficulty level is high, especially when you are trying for Ace Dominator. In the small circle, there are more than 30-35 players left alive; you need smokes and proper cover. It feels like a competitive gameplay or a Conqueror lobby.

What if I fail a second time?

If you fail the first time, the protection will save your streak, if you have already completed 2-3 matches. But a second failure means it’ll get reset; then you have to start again from the 1st promotion match.
